This year, in celebration of National Nonprofit Day, Els Pet took the opportunity to give back to the community by donating 16 of our smart litter boxes to six dedicated nonprofit organizations. These shelters—Kat Pawz Sanctuary, Hearts To Homes Humane Society, Animal Manor, Bonner Springs Animal Rescue, Casting All Talent Rescue, and the Humane Society of Port Jervis/Deerpark—are not just partners but part of our extended family. Together, we worked towards a shared goal: Cleaner Shelters, Healthier Cats.
Supporting Shelters, One Smart Litter Box at a Time
Our donation directly benefited an estimated 180 sheltered cats, making their living spaces cleaner and more comfortable. The smart litter boxes also significantly reduced the workload for 30 volunteers, freeing up their time to focus on what truly matters: caring for the cats and finding them loving homes. This partnership was more than just about providing products; it was about standing alongside people who share our passion for animal welfare.
Personal Stories: The Heart Behind the Mission
At Animal Manor, the mission is clear: to care for unwanted and special needs cats and animals. The founder has been rescuing cats since childhood, finding comfort and friendship in them during their early years. This lifelong bond with cats is what drives their dedication today. "I’m there every morning, afternoon, and evening—cleaning, feeding, socializing, and grooming. It takes me four hours each shift," they shared. The smart litter boxes have been a game-changer, allowing them to spend more time with the cats and less time on routine tasks.
Hearts To Homes Humane Society is equally committed to animal welfare. The shelter's daily routine is meticulously managed by volunteers who dust, sweep, mop, feed, water, and socialize the cats every mid-morning. The founder’s journey began after college when they started helping at the local animal control. Seeing the number of animals at risk of euthanasia fueled their passion for rescue work, eventually leading to the creation of Hearts To Homes Humane Society. "Our cats are free-fed Hills Science Diet, and we have adoptions on Saturdays where people can schedule appointments to see the cats and adopt," they explained.
Kat Pawz Sanctuary has also been deeply involved in cat rescue, with the founders dedicating their lives to this cause. For them, cats have always been an integral part of their family. The sanctuary was born out of a deep desire to make a difference, one cat at a time. "We knew we eventually wanted to open our own rescue," they shared. "Cats have always been an integral part of our lives, and we want to make an impact by saving cats, one life at a time."
Feedback from the Frontlines
The shelters shared their experiences with the smart litter boxes, and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. One of the key challenges many shelters face is maintaining cleanliness and managing the time-intensive task of scooping litter boxes. Animal Manor noted, "The smart litter boxes have been a real time-saver. It's allowed us to focus more on the cats and less on the cleanup."
Hearts To Homes Humane Society added, "The smart litter boxes alleviate time spent on cleaning, allowing us to focus on networking the cats for homes. It’s also a big plus for adopters who appreciate that the cats are already accustomed to using a robot."
One shelter shared their first-week experience: "It was an easy adjustment for the cats, and they seem to like them. They've been able to use the box with ease, and it's saved us time not having to scoop the box."

The overall experience with our smart litter boxes was rated 8.7 out of 10, reflecting the positive impact on both the cats and the volunteers who care for them. But beyond the numbers, it’s the personal stories and shared passion that truly define the success of this campaign.
